For the carver who has outgrown triangle eyes. These stencils demand patience, a steady hand, and proper tools, but the results stop people on the sidewalk.

What’s Included

  • 5 intricate carving stencil designs on a single PDF sheet
  • Victorian sugar skull with ornamental filigree
  • Haunted house silhouette with bare trees and full moon backdrop
  • Nosferatu shadow (the 1922 Count Orlok ascending stairs)
  • Raven perched on a gnarled branch
  • Anatomical heart with exposed chambers and arterial detail
  • Each design fits pumpkins 10 to 14 inches in diameter
  • Mixed line weights for depth carving (full cut, half-depth shave, surface scratch)

Design Details

These patterns use a three-depth approach. Bold outlines indicate full cuts (all the way through the pumpkin wall). Shaded regions mark areas to shave to half depth, allowing light to glow through a thin wall of pumpkin flesh. Fine detail lines are surface scratches that catch candlelight. This technique produces carvings with dramatic depth and shadow, far beyond what single-depth cutting can achieve.

You will need a precision pumpkin carving kit with ribbon loop tools, detail saws, and a scraper. A large pumpkin with flat surfaces helps. Budget 90 minutes to two hours per design. Print at full size and transfer with the pushpin method described in the Classic Collection. See what these techniques look like finished in our pumpkin carving gallery.
